With a PhD from Nipissing University in clinical social work education and a Masters degree from the University of Toronto in Counselling Psychology, Dave has worked as a psychotherapist in hospital mental health outpatient programs supporting children, adolescents, and adults experiencing mild to severe mental health challenges.
Dave has also worked in private practice and community mental health agencies providing counselling services to families and individuals of all ages struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, trauma, grief/loss, low self-esteem, family conflict, parent-teen relationship difficulties, and child behavior challenges.
Dave has held a number of leadership positions in the field: Coordinator of Outpatient Mental Health Services at William Osler Health Centre; Clinical Director at Oxford-Elgin Child and Youth Centre; and most recently, Assistant Program Head of the Family & Community Social Services Program at the University of Guelph Humber.
In addition to his experience in counselling, Dave is also an independent recording artist with internationally recognized original musical compositions that promote mindfulness, and relaxation. He holds two university degrees in music including a degree in music therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Understanding the positive influence of music, Dave is always open to using music in his work with clients for whom music is an interest.
Dave is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists.
